The Winamac Warriors wrapped up the regular season with a gritty performance at the Rensselaer Central Sectional. The boys team finished 6th overall (1:36:42, 19:20 avg.), while the girls competed with a partial lineup, turning in determined efforts and valuable postseason experience. Boys — Team 6th (1:36:42 • 19:20 avg) Logan Fredel – 3rd, 17:14.9 Another podium finish for Fredel, who ran confidently from the start and closed strong. Nathan Pierzchalski – 6th, 17:52.0 Paired perfectly with Fredel up front, giving Winamac one of the best one-two punches in the field. Paxton Moon – 29th, 18:54.2 Held steady through the middle miles and surged late to solidify team scoring. Joel Showley – 57th, 21:15.4 Delivered a consistent effort that helped keep the team pack together. Braylen Becker – 58th, 21:26.5 Maintained solid pace and contributed valuable points for the Warriors. Austin Pratt – 61st, 21:30.6 Continues to gain confidence and experience as postseason racing begins. Elisha Burns – 66th, 22:37.3 Battled throughout to close out Winamac’s lineup with determination. Girls — Individual Highlights Avery Wegner – 14th, 22:32.5 Led the Warriors with another top-15 finish, showing strong pacing and consistency. Kandace Kroft – 17th, 22:49.1 Stayed in contact with the leaders, closing hard for a top-20 spot. Maddy Goodman – 37th, 24:28.2 Smooth and steady from start to finish, adding another solid race to her season. Makayla Werner – 42nd, 25:00.4 Controlled race effort that demonstrated growth and endurance. Regional Qualifiers Winamac will advance six runners to the IHSAA Regional Championships: Logan Fredel, Nathan Pierzchalski, and Paxton Moon for the boys, and Avery Wegner, Kandace Kroft, and Maddy Goodman for the girls.
