Warriors Host Zebras for Block Out Cancer Night

By Heather Kasten | Oct 3, 2025 7:27 AM

The Warriors hosted the Rochester Zebras last night for their annual cancer awareness game. Fellow Warriors helped raise over $400 to donate to Susan G. Komen for the cure in a pink volleyball raffle. The volleyball team also recognized several family and friends in honor and remembrance of their battles against cancer. The Warriors started set one a bit rocky, but came around mid-set going point for point with the Zebras in an exciting back and forth battle of quick offense and scrappy defenders. After dropping set 1 18-25, the Warriors lost their footing in set 2, losing several long rallies and finishing the set 10-25. After a quick line up change, Winamac came back stronger than they had all night, playing virtually mistake free. A long three-rallies put a cap on the night at 25-27 after 4 score ties between 20 and 25 points for the Warriors. "If there hadn't been a scoreboard, you never would have guessed we were losing any of those sets tonight. Our physical and mental toughness never dipped and I will take that kind of attitude every night. I was very happy with how they played in a line up we've never ran live before. I'm excited to see how things play out Saturday at Attica and Monday against Judson." quoted a happy Coach Kasten. The leaderboard included Grace Roth and Abby Keller with 2 aces a piece. A. Keller also added 19 assists, while M. Keller had 10 digs and several phenomenal saves. Roth and Malchow each had 5 kills a piece, with Roth contributing 10 digs, as well. Rausch was alive and well on offense and defense last night, firing off 8 kills and 16 digs. Freshman Kylie Fisher had 15 digs on the night to contribute to the great defensive plays by the Warriors. Winamac will take on Attica, West Vigo and Scharman (IL) at the Attica Invite on Saturday, then head to North Judson on Monday for their final conference match up of the season.
