By Heather Kasten | Sep 24, 2025 7:23 AM

The Winamac Warriors started the week strong with dual JV and Varsity wins at Tri-Township on Monday. Freshman Abby Keller had 37 assists to help offensive leaders Ava Malchow, Grace Roth and Brooke Rausch lead the way with 12, 7, and 6 kills respectively. Freshman Jordon Compton also stepped up on offense and ended the night with 6 kills and a block. Roth also added 12 digs and 3 aces, while Rausch contributed another 15 digs. The Warriors finished the night in a 5 set battle (21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 21-25, 15-6). Winamac traveled to Triton on Tuesday for another conference match up. The Warriors walked away with a rough 8-25 loss after set one. A string of poor service receptions and offensive errors led to a quick 3 set match, with the following two sets ending 16-25 and 12-25 in favor of the Trojans. Five service errors to one ace (Meyer), 12 receptions errors and 25 hitting errors were responsible for the Warriors not being able to battle out of the hole Tuesday. "When our setter is giving us 60 different attempts to swing and we only capitalize on a handful, we're never going to make any gains. Kudos to Abby (Keller) for hustling after everything to even give us the opportunities we did have. This is always the toughest part of the season, and we're definitely feeling it this year. We have to lock-in now and focus on the basics because that's lost us a few easy games this year," said Coach Kasten. Winamac hosts Pioneer on Thursday and will recognize and honor grandparents between the JV and Varsity matches.
