The Warriors lined up against some of the deepest competition of the season at the New Prairie Invitational. Both teams held their own on a tough course and came away with valuable experience as they continue to build toward the postseason. The girls placed 14th overall with an average time of 24:45, while the boys earned 15th overall with a team average of 20:05. Girls – Team 14th (Avg. 24:45.1) Avery Wegner (SR) Led the Lady Warriors with a strong run just outside the top 25 in a highly competitive field. Kandace Kroft (SR) Close behind Wegner, giving Winamac a powerful one-two senior punch. Madelyn Goodman (SR) Steadied the middle of the lineup and gave the team a reliable third scorer. Makayla Werner (SR) Battled well through the hills and packed in important depth for the Warriors. Roni Garbison (SR) Rounded out the scoring five with a determined effort over the second half of the course. Brooklyn Jachim (JR) Continued her steady improvement and added valuable depth in a big-meet atmosphere, while earning a big season best. Boys – Team 15th (Avg. 20:05.7) Logan Fredel (SR) Another outstanding performance, cracking the top 10 and proving he can contend with some of the region’s best. Nathan Pierzchalski (SR) Joined Fredel up front with a top-15 finish, giving Winamac two elite scorers. Braylen Becker (SO) Held his ground in a crowded mid-pack and gained valuable experience. Austin Pratt (FR) Impressive composure for a freshman, continuing to grow in confidence and race savvy. Joel Showley (JR) A steady performance to lock down the Warriors’ fifth scoring spot. Elisha Burns (JR) Finished right on Showley’s heels, showing the depth and pack running that will help the team in tournaments. Recap The New Prairie Invitational delivered exactly what the Warriors needed: a chance to test themselves against a deep field and demanding course. The girls packed two runners inside the top 35 with Wegner and Kroft, while the boys placed two in the top 15 thanks to Fredel and Pierzchalski. With each meet, Winamac continues to build strength and confidence as the postseason draws closer.
