The Warriors took another big step forward at the Maconaquah XC Invitational, with both teams showing depth and resilience against a strong field. Despite a heavier training load this week designed to prepare them for the upcoming tournament stretch, the athletes rose to the challenge. The girls placed 8th overall, while the boys earned a strong 6th-place team finish. Along the way, three Warriors notched personal records, proof that the team’s hard work is paying off. Girls — Individual Highlights Avery Wegner (SR) — 17th, 22:18.88 Once again set the tone for the Warriors with a confident effort inside the top 20. Avery continues to provide consistency and leadership up front. Madelyn Goodman (SR) — 39th, 24:43.19 Steady through the middle and strong over the final mile, Goodman showed her experience as she helped anchor the scoring five. Makayla Werner (JR) — 54th, 26:23.88 (PR) A breakthrough performance with her fastest time to date. Makayla’s improvement shows her hard work is paying off. Roni Garbison (SR) — 56th, 26:31.50 (PR) Ran her best race yet, pushing forward in the second half to move up spots and set a new personal record. Brooklyn Jachim (SO) — 80th, 31:15.32 Fought through the course with toughness, gaining valuable varsity experience that will fuel continued improvement. Boys — Individual Highlights Logan Fredel (SR) — 5th, 16:42.72 Another standout day at the front of the pack, Fredel’s top-5 finish confirmed his ability to mix it up with the best in the area. Nathan Pierzchalski (SR) — 16th, 17:50.89 A steady, competitive run that kept Winamac firmly in the top group of teams. His reliability has been key for the Warriors’ momentum. Paxton Moon (FR) — 58th, 20:15.25 Turned in another strong freshman performance, holding composure in a large field and continuing to gain valuable varsity experience. Braylen Becker (SO) — 69th, 21:19.26 Stayed engaged through a crowded middle pack and closed strong to help the team score. Elisha Burns (JR) — 72nd, 21:27.86 Maintained solid pacing and fought through a deep middle group, giving the Warriors important depth. Austin Pratt (FR) — 81st, 21:57.63 (PR) Achieved his best time yet, an exciting mark for the freshman as he continues to settle into varsity racing. Joel Showley (JR) — 93rd, 23:04.95 Turned in another steady effort, holding form late and contributing to the team’s depth.
