Winamac vs. Caston Volleyball Conference Match Up

By Heather Kasten | Sep 12, 2025 9:13 AM

The Comets came to Winamac last night for the Warrior's second conference match up of the season. The JV started off strong with another conference win, putting them 2-0 in the HNAC (25-15, 25-17). The Warrior's varsity weren't able to finish off Caston, with Winamac only able to take sets 1 and 4 last night (25-15, 15-25, 10-25, 25-23, 11-15), but it was a battle nonetheless. Winamac came out of the gates strong, per usual their last few matches, but a string of poor offensive executions put the Warriors in a rut to end set 2 and start set 3. Coach Kasten spoke on her feelings from the match - "When we find our consistency on offense and a way to keep our fire from flickering, we are going to do so many great things. We were visibly frustrated tonight during sets 2 and 3 and it hurt us, but that's something we have to continue to work through as a team because we are so capable with our skill set." Freshmen Abby Keller worked her magic with the offense, completing 37 assists for the night. Brooke Rausch led the defense with 18 digs while adding 6 kills. Ava Malchow led the offense with 16 kills and an ace, while also dishing out 8 digs. Grace Roth was a strong leader on the floor all the way around, giving the Warriors 10 digs, 7 kills and 4 aces for the night. Freshman Kylie Fisher stepped up as libero and added an ace and 10 digs. Jordyn Hounchell and Mylie Foster each contributed 7 kills and 8 kills, respectively. The Warriors are back in action at home Monday against North Miami for another chance at a conference win.
