Winamac Athletics

Winamac traveled to Caston and improved to 3-2 in the HNAC with a 11-6 win over the Comets. Brayden Mathias got the start going 3 1/3 innings allowing one hit, one earned runs with 6 strikeouts and 6 walks. Max Gearhart came on in relief and pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 earned runs , walking 3 and striking out 1. Addison Allen pitched the final inning allowing 0 hits and 0 runs. Winamac brought their bats to Fulton collecting 12 hits including 7 doubles and a triple. Cash Roth led the Warriors collecting 3 doubles. Maddox Bucinski, Max Gearhart, Conner Burton and John Malchow all doubled for Winamac. Wyatt Wheeler had 2 hits including a triple and 3 RBI’s. Comments: that was a big win for us. I told the boys before the game I’ve always considered Blake Molenkopf at Caston one of the better coaches around. The kids played well. We didn’t play perfect, but 2 weeks ago we would have folded when Caston tied the game late. Tonight they responded and competed, I’m proud of all of them.
