Winamac Warriors Varsity Drops Game To Knox After Late Score

Winamac Warriors Varsity stayed in it until the end, but Knox pulled away late in a 17-10 victory on Friday. The game was tied at eight with Knox batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored two runs for Knox. Winamac Warriors Varsity collected 16 hits and Knox had 20 in the high-scoring affair. Winamac Warriors Varsity got things started in the first inning when McKenzie Hinz singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Winamac Warriors Varsity notched three runs in the second inning. Makayla Werner and Emma Goodman all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Bethany Barnes earned the win for Knox. Barnes went seven innings, allowing ten runs on 16 hits. Hinz took the loss for Winamac Warriors Varsity. The bulldog lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing 15 hits and 12 runs while striking out two and walking one. Knox launched four home runs on the day. Kiana McCarty had a long ball in the second inning. Karliegh Friedrich had a homer in the fifth inning. Jersey Selby had a four bagger in the sixth inning. Cheryl Barnes put one out in the sixth inning. Winamac Warriors Varsity totaled 16 hits in the game. Isabelle Decker, Goodman, Maggie Smith, Hinz, and Werner all collected multiple hits for Winamac Warriors Varsity. Smith, Goodman, and Decker all had three hits to lead Winamac Warriors Varsity. Knox racked up 20 hits. Joie Montague, McCarty, Friedrich, Cayla Craft, Kadence Qualls, Barnes, and Selby all managed multiple hits for Knox. Montague led Knox with four hits in five at bats.
