Winamac Volleyball Invitational

Winamac hosted their 5th annual Winamac Varsity Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. Participating teams included Winamac, Tri-County, Tri-Township, Tri-Central, North Judson, North Newton, North White, Knox, West Central, Westville, Twin Lakes and Lake Station. Winamac kicked off their season by winning their pool, beating Tri-Central in match one 25-16 and 25-23 and beating Lake Station 25-23 and 25-12. Bracket play continued after lunch with the Warriors falling to Tri-County in the first game of the gold bracket 15-25 and 19-25. It was a hard fought battle led by Brooke Rausch with 15 kills and 12 aces. Grace Roth and Ava Malchow each contributed on the offense with 5 and 6 kills, respectively. Varsity newcomer, Jaelyn Huddleston, contributed 26 assists on the day. Jordyn Hounchell also added 5 aces to help lead the Warriors to a 2-1 record on the day. The Invitational concluded with a 3 set match up between Twin Lakes and Tri-County with Twin Lakes ultimately taking home the hardware. Winamac Volleyball is on the road Tuesday August 19 and Lewis Cass (6:00 PM) and Thursday August 21 at Rensselaer (6:30 PM).
