Winamac Girls Golf Team Opens Season at Sandy Pines GC

By Jeremy Shell | Aug 8, 2025 9:47 PM

The Winamac Girls Golf team teed off their 2025 season at the formidable Sandy Pines Golf Club, competing in the KV Invitational. Facing stiff competition and a challenging course layout, the team finished 14th overall—a respectable start for a squad brimming with fresh faces and untapped potential. With only one returning starter from last season, the Lady Warriors entered the tournament as an unfamiliar unit, and for some, it was their first time navigating the demanding Sandy Pines terrain. Despite the odds, the team showed grit and promise. Leading the charge was Hunter Hines, who posted the team’s top score and set the tone for the season ahead. Right behind her was sophomore Brianna Patton, making her debut varsity start after returning from last year’s roster. Patton’s performance highlighted her growth and readiness to take on a larger role. The lineup was rounded out by three first-year seniors—Cady Jones, Marissa Iverson, and Kandance Kroft—each stepping into competitive golf with determination. Their presence adds depth and leadership to a team in transition. While the final standings may not reflect the full story, the KV Invitational marked an important first step for Winamac’s evolving roster. With experience gained and chemistry building, the Lady Warriors are poised to sharpen their game as the season unfolds. Full Results: 1. Munster- 343 2. Lake Central- 351 3. LaPorte- 366 4.
