Winamac Warriors Varsity built a four-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off Rochester's charge for a 9-8 victory on Tuesday. Corrin Combs led Winamac Warriors Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. Combs went 2-for-4 at the plate. Combs drove in runs on a grand slam in the third. In the first inning, Winamac Warriors Varsity got their offense started when Emma Goodman hit a solo homer. Winamac Warriors Varsity pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Goodman singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Combs homered on a 2-2 count, scoring four runs. McKenzie Hinz was the winning pitcher for Winamac Warriors Varsity. Hinz allowed nine hits and eight runs over seven innings, striking out eight. Winamac Warriors Varsity launched two home runs on the day. Combs went for the long ball in the third inning. Goodman went deep in the first inning. Winamac Warriors Varsity totaled 11 hits. Lauren Bruce, Maggie Smith, Goodman, and Combs each collected multiple hits for Winamac Warriors Varsity.
