Dylan Guilford is signing with Purdue Northwest to continue his academic and athletic career for their cross country and track and field programs What made you choose Purdue Northwest? "It's a D2 school so the competitiveness and the level of competition and the region where it is located. I'm going to be seeing some good athletes from that area" What is your favorite memory of playing sports while participating as a student-athlete at Winamac? "For track, it's winning conference my first year, it really brough out team together. Showed how hard work can help you win a championship. For cross country was defiantly conference this year, even though we didn't win, we worked hard and it showed resilience persevering from injury and sickness" Was playing a collegiate sport something that you always wanted to do? "Yes it was, it was always the goal for me to move on, especially in running. I always loved watching track and field when I was a kid. MY all time goal is to be an All-American. And I've always wanted to compete at that level" Who were people along the way that helped you achieve this goal? "My coaches for sure, Bryce Kappes, Mike Haschel, Andy Stepp. I've gotten a lot of coaching from different camps and different people and they have really influenced me with my running and what you do" What would you say to Winamac students who are on the fence about wanting to join cross country or track and field in high school? "Join it. I think it's a super fun experience and it's the biggest family experience you can have outside your family. Everyone is enjoying the same pain together. So join it" Pictures provided by Paul Hettinger
