Warriors Travel to Berry Bowl for End of Season Match-up

By Heather Kasten | Oct 11, 2024 7:21 AM

Winamac traveled to Logansport last night for a surprising end of season battle against the Berries (14-15 on the season). Winamac JV started the night with a ton of energy and fight, battling back and forth with 9 ties in the first set. Winamac ultimately ended on the less favored side of the first set, 27-29. They didn't let that deter them from coming out strong in set 2, though. Another back and forth fight ended in more extra points, ending with Winamac taking the loss at 24-26. Jocelyn Kain had 5 digs and 3 aces for the Warrior JV, while Lila Lavender and Jordyn Hounchell each added 2 kills and Hounchell picking up 2 aces. Kallie Kasten ran the defense with 9 digs. The Varsity started out no differently, ending set one 23-25 against a talented Logansport team. Sets two and three had some serve-receive trouble, but defensively, the Warriors battled just as hard as set one. Winamac took the three set loss with the remaining sets ending 12-25, 14-25. "If we could have broken their serve a little sooner and gone on a few more runs of our own, we had that match. That's exactly what we did in set one - we were able to find the floor the first time around and not get into a rally battle. That's going to be key for us moving into next week." quotes Coach Kasten. Ally Campbell, Marissa Iverson and Brooke Rausch shared the offensive glory with 4 kills a piece. Audrey Dickinson had an amazing night defensively with several big hustle plays and 8 digs for the night. Mylie Foster rattled off 3 aces, while Grace Roth had two aces, 8 assists and 3 digs. Winamac JV finished their season Saturday at the Culver JV Invite at 9:00 AM and the Varsity prepares for sectionals against Jimtown next Thursday at Knox at 7:00 PM.
