Winamac Takes Silver at Attica Invite

Winamac made the long haul down to Attica High School on Saturday for their first appearance in the Attica Invitational. Winamac took on Providence Cristo Rey (Indianapolis), West Vigo (Terra Haute) and Attica. Winamac ended up placing second in the tournament, losing only to West Vigo early in the day (13-25, 17-25) The Warriors defeated Providence Cristo Rey 25-18 and 25-12, then kept the ball rolling to take a victory over Attica in a heated battle ending 25-17 and 25-22. "We definitely had a slow start to the day after that two hour drive, but we were able to finish strong. I was really proud of the consistency and communication we had against Attica at the end of the day. We played the way we need to be playing going into our last week of regular season." - Coach Heather Kasten Stat leaders for the day included Marissa Iverson with 17 kills and 2 blocks, Brooke Rausch with 10 kills, 17 digs and 2 aces and Maggie Keller with 24 digs, 8 aces and 4 kills. Freshman Grace Roth was still stepping in as setter for the Warriors and ended the day with 13 digs and 44 assists. Mylie Foster added 9 kills while Ally Campbell and Ava Malchow both contributed 6 a piece. Defensively, Rausch added 17 digs while Campbell had 13 digs. The Warriors have their last home match Monday (Senior Night) against the North Judson Blue Jays starting with JV at 6:00.
