Zebras Over Warriors in 4 Set Battle
By Heather Kasten | Oct 4, 2024 2:05 PM
Winamac traveled to Rochester last night with a new line up to try before tomorrow's Attica Invitational. Freshman Grace Roth stepped up to fill in as setter for senior Linzy Walters, who's awaiting medical clearance. Unfortunately, the Zebras had a little too much to fire for the Warriors to handle and Winamac ended up falling short in four sets (11-25, 7-25, 25-23, 8-25). "We did everything right in set three, and a lot of set four, but unfortunately didn't do much right in the first two sets and that was a big hole we had to dig out of," Coach Kasten said. "The highlights were Grace handling the setting situation with ease, Audrey stepping in and playing really great defense for us and how well everyone encouraged the ones in new roles. We just weren't zoned in enough and made silly mistakes." Missed serves and hitting errors made for a long night for the Warriors. Leading the offense was Brooke Rausch with 5 kills and Ava Malchow with 4. Audrey Dickinson led the defense with 13 digs, while Maggie Keller and Grace Roth both tacked on 10. Roth ended the night with 14 assists. Winamac will travel to Attica on Saturday to take on Attica, West Vigo and Providence Cristo Rey.
