Both Lady Warrior teams had successful nights for their annual Block Out Cancer game. Winamac hosted the Argos Dragons, with the JV winning in 2 sets (25-19, 25-17) and the varsity taking their first 3-set win of the season (25-16, 25-17, 25-6). Winamac got off to a shaky start, but were able to pull it together when it mattered most. "Our ability to put the ball in play and control their free-balls were the difference between a win and loss tonight. Argos wasn't going away, but we finally figured out how to zone in and control our own points." says Coach Kasten. With the offense finally firing on all cylinders and a quick footed offense, the Lady Warriors put themselves in a good spot and were able to pick up their first conference win of the season. Defensive leaders Maggie Keller and Grace Roth were on fire behind the service line, picking up 8 and 11 aces, respectively. Brooke Rausch led offensively with 12 kills, while Mylie Foster and Marissa Iverson each added 6. Keller and Walters each had 8 digs, while Walters dished out 26 assists for the night. Winamac is back in action on the road this Thursday when they travel to Rochester.
