The Lady Warriors took on the Triton Trojans last night at home. While it was the game that ended the Warrior's first winning streak of the season, Winamac played admirably against a well-seasoned Trojan team. Although scores like 17-25, 7-25 and 15-25 aren't what the Warriors were hoping for, the play on the floor was much higher than the numbers on the scoreboard. "I felt like we could have hung our heads and let them run away with each set if we were the same team we were two weeks ago. They kept getting up, dusting themselves off and wanting more. It's that kind of attitude that will take us where we want to be." commented Coach Kasten. Leaders of the night were McKenzie Hinz with 9 kills, a block and 5 digs. Hailey Attinger with 4 kills and an ace. Lauren Fredel and Linzy Walters dished out 7 and 11 assists, respectively. While the Warriors might not have won in the scorebooks, it was definitely a win for the Winamac Community. The Warriors honored middle school resource teacher, Melissa Newman, last night as their Block Out Cancer Honoree. Mrs. Newman was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery yesterday to continue her battle against the disease. A raffle and free will donations brought in over $500 to donate to the family. The Lady Warriors will be back in action on Thursday at Pioneer to take on their second to last HNAC rival.
