Winamac Tops Tri-Township Tigers

The Tri-Township Tigers visited Winamac last night to try and squeeze out another win, but the Warriors stood strong, defeating Tri-Township in four sets - 25-23, 25-19, 26-28 and 25-15. The energy and excitement that the Warriors brought to the court Monday night was unmatched so far this season. While the Warrior defense didn't have much competition from the opposing team's offense, Winamac definitely leaned on their offense to earn their points against the Tigers. "We are finally coming together and playing as one unit instead of individual parts." commented Coach Kasten. "It has completely changed the feeling of our game and it shows on the scoreboard." Leading the way against the Tigers was senior McKenzie Hinz with 16 kills, 4 aces, 5 digs and 2 blocks. Playing her opposite was other senior, Hailey Attinger with 4 kills, 4 aces and a block. Leading the serving board for the Warriors, was libero Raegan Kasten with 6 aces on the night. Linzy Walters and Lauren Fredel fed the front line well with 18 and 12 assists, respectively. Freshmen Brooke Rausch and Sarah Fort continued to dominate the front row with Rausch rattling off 7 kills and Fort adding 3 kills and 2 aces for the Warrior win. The Lady Warriors are back in action tonight against Triton at home for Block Out Cancer Night. Mrs. Melissa Newman, Winamac middle school resource teacher, will be the honoree of the night.
