Winamac Athletics

The girls basketball team hosted North White Thursday night, played great basketball, and won both the JV and Varsity contests. The varsity led 20-5 after 1, 33-10 at half and cruised to a 53-17 victory. Sadie Popejoy and Maggie Smith led the scoring attack with 16 & 11 points, respectively. Kandace Kroft played an outstanding all-around game with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists, 7 steals, and 7 more deflections. The team improves to 4-2, which matches last season's win total already. The JV won a 2 quarter contest 21-2, leading start to finish. The offense was pretty balanced with Brody Goodman scoring 8 points, Corinne Ulerick and Shai Loehmer with 4 each, KK O'Connor with 3, and Cyaira Woolford added 2. The JV record is now 4-1. Both teams are in action on Saturday night at Manchester High School to take on the Lady Squires. JV tipoff is 6pm.
