The Winamac cross country team had an impressive race at the Maconaquah Invitational, highlighted by breakthrough personal bests and several near-record finishes. On the girls’ side, Jillian Burns led the charge for Winamac, placing 41st overall while clocking a standout time of 25:43.80 to set a brand-new personal record. Teammate Jaelyn Huddleston also delivered a major milestone performance, setting her own personal record of 37:45.67. The boys’ team brought matching intensity, led by Brody Bonnell’s top-tier performance as he paced the team with a 17:49.39 finish to secure 20th place overall and a new personal record. Joining Bonnell with new lifetime bests were Elisha Burns, who crossed the line in 20:57, and Ethan Showley, who posted a personal-best 21:32.64. Beyond the headline PRs, several other Winamac runners came remarkably close to setting new personal bests of their own: * Evan Burgess crossed the line in 21:36.67—missing his PR by just 1.45 seconds. * Katelyn Burgess finished in 29:25.45—just 11.45 seconds off her career mark. * Austin Pratt ran a strong 21:15.92, staying within striking distance of his personal record. Rounding out the team's effort were solid performances from Brooklynn Jachim (28:00.85), Kallie Kasten (31:22.81), Braylen Becker (22:01.77), and Joel Showley (23:58.64). With three runners setting personal bests and others finishing mere seconds off their peak times, the Warriors showed clear evidence that their training is paying off at just the right point in the season.
