The Winamac Community high school cross country teams showcased steady pacing on Saturday at the Caston Invitational, competing across both the boys' and girls' 5,000-meter varsity races. Boys Team Breakdown The Winamac boys were led by junior Braylen Becker, who delivered the squad's fastest overall performance of the day, crossing the finish line in 21:08.56 to take 34th place. Senior Elisha Burns was close behind, securing 39th place in 21:25.39. Rounding out the primary pack was junior Evan Burgess, who placed 40th with a final time of 21:35.22. Freshman Ethan Showley earned 54th place with a time of 23:00.23. Senior Joel Showley finished 61st (23:43.48), while sophomore Austin Pratt completed the lineup in 64th place (24:22.47). Girls Team Breakdown On the girls' side, freshman Jillian Burns paced the Warriors with a team-best finish, claiming 31st place with a final time of 28:20.46. Senior Brooklyn Jachim ran strong to take 33rd place overall in 28:29.41. In the middle of the pack, senior Kallie Kasten and sophomore Katelyn Burgess finished back-to-back, with Kasten taking 42nd place (30:15.17) and Burgess finishing right behind in 43rd place (30:17.78). Senior Jaelyn Huddleston rounded out the varsity squad, placing 58th (42:17.97).
