Winamac hosted the Logan Berries last night after celebrating seniors Piper Link, Raegan Kasten and manager, Olivia Browning. The Warriors started off a little rocky after an emotional senior ceremony and a line up change due to an injured Ally Campbell. Sophomore, Audrey Dickinson, and freshman, Kallie Kasten, stepped up to fill the junior right side's role. While set one ended at 14-25, the Warriors weren't done yet. Set two had the Warriors down after a string of poor service receptions, missed serves and net violations, but they dug in and found their fire, making an 2-7 run against the Berries mid-set. Tied up at 20-20, the Warriors were in a good position to take the second set, but a few long rallies ended in favor of the Berries with the set finishing 20-25. With set three on the line, Winamac came out strong, stringing point after point together, leading the Berries until point 17. The Berries changed strategies from hitting to tipping, but the Warriors battled back, picking up everything defensively that they could. Long rallies and point for point scoring put the Warriors within striking distance of stopping the Berries at 23-24. Freshman, Maggie Keller, stepped up to the serving line and rattled off an ace to tie it up. She added another aggressive serve to put Winamac ahead 25-24. A missed tip against the Warriors got the Berries the ball back where they put two more serves over and in, forcing Winamac to make the offensive play. A wide set and an awkward hitting angle as the only option for Winamac, put the ball in the net to finish the set 25-27 in favor of the Berries. Winamac will travel to Pioneer next Saturday at 11:00 AM to take on the winner of the Lewis Cass-Pioneer game in Sectional #36.
