The Winamac Community High School cross country program displayed disciplined team running at the Twin Lakes Invitational, with both the boys and girls squads relying on tight grouping to navigate the course. Bonnell Leads the Way as Boys Pack Up Freshman standout Brody Bonnell set the tone for the boys, cracking the overall top ten with an impressive 18:47.47 finish to secure 8th place. Behind Bonnell, the Warriors executed a textbook pack strategy. Winamac’s second through sixth runners crossed the line within a tight 49-second window. Junior Braylen Becker spearheaded the pack in 54th place (22:34.90), with junior Evan Burgess right behind in 57th (22:50.76). Senior leadership kept the momentum going as Elisha Burns finished 58th (23:01.54), followed closely by freshman Ethan Showley in 59th (23:05.79) and sophomore Austin Pratt in 60th (23:24.02). Senior Joel Showley completed the seven-man lineup, crossing in 63rd place (23:50.50) to wrap up a strong group effort. Lady Warriors Stick Together from Front to Back The Winamac girls mirrored that same pack mentality, led by freshman Jillian Burns, who crossed in 21st place with a time of 29:37.96. Sophomore Katelyn Burgess was right on her heels, finishing less than two seconds later in 22nd place at 29:39.40. Senior Brooklyn Jachim kept the lead pack tight, taking 24th place in 30:09.30 and completing a top trio separated by just 31 seconds. Senior Kallie Kasten added crucial mid-race strength in 28th place (31:51.78), while senior Jaelyn Huddleston rounded out the squad in 35th place (40:31.96). By pacing off one another and keeping their gaps small, both Winamac squads proved that their strength in numbers will make them a team to watch as the season progresses.
