Winamac Battles Tough Field in Four‑Way Meet at Sandy Pines

By Jeremy Shell | Apr 14, 2026 9:45 PM

The Winamac boys golf team returned to action Tuesday, taking on Kankakee Valley, DeMotte Christian, and Morgan Township in a four‑way meet at the always demanding Sandy Pines Golf Club. The Warriors posted a team score of 219, finishing third ahead of Morgan Township (234) while Kankakee Valley (174) and DeMotte Christian (199) led the field. Junior newcomer Tyler Rainford, competing in his first season with the team, continued to impress as he led Winamac with a 50. Team captain Logan Fredel followed with a 52. Rylan Craig added a 58, while Justin Pothoff carded a 59. Parker Zeider rounded out the scoring with a 60. Much like their season‑opening invitational, the Warriors struggled to put together complete rounds across the lineup. Even so, there were encouraging signs of increased consistency and steadier play — steps the team hopes to build on as the season progresses. Winamac will look to continue that growth on Friday when the Warriors return home to host West Central.
