Winamac Boys Golf Opens Season at Rochester Invitational

By Jeremy Shell | Apr 14, 2026 9:27 PM

The Winamac boys golf team opened its season Saturday at the Rochester Invitational, competing in a deep 16‑team field. The Warriors finished at the bottom of the standings, but the day still offered early glimpses of potential as the group begins to shape its identity for the spring. Logan Fredel led the way for Winamac, turning in the team’s top score. He was followed by newcomer Tyler Rainford, who made his varsity debut and contributed solidly in his first outing. Rounding out the scoring lineup were Rylan Craig, Parker Zeider, and Justin Pothoff. Consistency proved to be the biggest hurdle for the Warriors, who struggled to piece together complete rounds across the lineup. Despite the challenges, the team showed encouraging signs throughout the day — stretches of strong ball‑striking, improved course management, and moments of confidence that coaches hope to build on. Winamac won’t have long to wait for its next test. The Warriors hit the road again Monday to take on the demanding layout at Sandy Pines Golf Club, where they’ll look to turn early progress into more complete performances.
