Girls Track & Field Caston Invitational

The Winamac girls track and field team delivered a strong team performance at the 2026 Caston Invite on Saturday, April 11, finishing 5th overall with 77 points. The day was defined by a mix of distance running and competitive efforts across every discipline. Distance Sweep Avery Wegner took team scoring honors by contributing 30 points to the Warriors' total by winning all three distance events. She took first place in the 1600 Meters (6:00.48), the 800 Meters (2:39.24), and the 3200 Meters (13:56.70). Sprint and Hurdle Leaders The Warriors also saw significant contributions on the shorter track events: Sadie Popejoy was a powerhouse in the sprints, taking 3rd place in three different events: the 100 Meters (14.04), the 200 Meters (28.83), and the 400 Meters (1:05.75). Kandace Kroft earned second place in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 54.71 and added a point in the High Jump, clearing 4' 6". Katelyn Burgess showcased her versatility by placing 5th in the 300m Hurdles (56.71) and competing in the 100 Meters (15.05). Maci Earp won her section of the 400 Meters to finish 7th overall with a time of 1:10.71. Addison Redweik and Jordyn Hounchell both competed in the 100m Hurdles, finishing in 21.57 and 22.82 respectively. Strength in the Field and Distance Depth Winamac's field athletes fought for every inch to help the team standings: Mylie Foster secured 6th place in the Long Jump with a mark of 12' 11.5" and also competed in the 200 Meters (31.31). Sadie Popejoy added to her busy day by taking 7th in the Discus with a throw of 89' 2". Lillian Dell and Alia Gourley represented the Warriors in the Shot Put, recording marks of 22' 9" and 19' 9.5". Ava Calabrese competed for Winamac in the Discus, where she recorded a throw of 45' 3". In the distance events, Madelyn Goodman (3:19.53 in the 800m) and Roni Garbison (7:20.97 in the 1600m; 16:21.13 in the 3200m) showed great endurance for the team. Relay Efforts The team's unity was on display in the relay events. The Winamac 4x100m Relay team finished in 4th place (59.17), while the 4x400m Relay team took 5th place with a time of 4:55.04.
