Ethan Burgess is signing with Purdue Northwest to continue his academic and athletic career to run track and study business. What made you choose Purdue Northwest? "It was a really good school, I loved the people I met when I was up there, the athletes and coaches. It's a smaller school which I like too. I enjoyed the school in general." What is your favorite memory of playing sports while participating as a student-athlete at Winamac? "I just have loved getting to meet all the different people I probably wouldn't have met or talked to through playing all the different sports" Was playing a collegiate sport something that you always wanted to do? "Yes, it has been something I wanted to do since I was little. I just always grew up watching a lot of sports with my dad. My dad and mom put me in a lot of different sports and I just kind of fell in love with it." Who were people along the way that helped you achieve this goal? "My parents, my coaches for sure, all of my coaches. And also my teammates." What would you say to Winamac students who are on the fence about wanting to join track and field in high school? "It can be tough at times, with doing all the different running or field events but it's fun to go out and have fun with your friends and stay fit. It also helps keep me focused as well on other things, such as school."
