Kandace Kroft is signing with Franklin College to continue her outstanding academic and athletic career to play women's college basketball. What made you choose Franklin College? "They were one of the colleges that reached out to me and I didn't know if I wanted to play, and I wasn't sure about it so I went and toured the college, met the coaches, met the teammates, and they showed me everything they could offer me outside of basketball, the campus was really beautiful and I thought it would be just a really good fit for me" What is your favorite memory of playing sports while participating as a student-athlete at Winamac? "Probably the bus rides with all my teammates, talking, stopping for food, and just being with and talking with my teammates and all the sports we played together over the years" Was playing a collegiate sport something that you always wanted to do? "Yeah, it was something I always wanted to do when I was little, but as I grew older I thought I just wanted to go to Purdue and enjoy the sports there, but when I got the opportunity to go to Franklin I knew that's what I wanted to do and wanted to go and participate" Who were people along the way that helped you achieve this goal? "My parents, my sister, my teammates, my coaches, Jordan Brandt, Steph Smith and other family members too, and my other friends... mostly the cheerleaders" What would you say to Winamac students who are on the fence about wanting to join girls basketball in high school? "I would definitely do it, it's one of the toughest sports to get through at the high school level, and if you can get through that you can get through anything. The teammates and coaches are amazing, and if you are on the fence about trying it definitely do it"
