The Warriors home opener against the Boone Grove Wolves was an exciting one. The former sectional opponents faced off in two fast paced sets to start the night. Several lead changes and runs by both teams led to eventual Warrior losses at 23-25 in both sets. Set three started off with some doubtfulness by the Warriors, but they managed to put together some good plays and a lot of hustle. Winamac hit a wall at the mid-point of set three, and struggled to finish as strong as the night started. Set three ended in a 11-25 loss to finish out the match. While it's a loss in the book, it was definitely a win on the court as far as Coach Heather Kasten was concerned. "We knew coming into the season that our youth would be something we'd have to outwork all season and we are definitely on the right path. Not a single girl gave up on a ball or each other all night. Our defense was unbelievable." Big leaders for the Warriors included McKenzie Hinz with 16 digs, 4 kills, 2 aces and a solo block. Piper Link had 4 kills and digs a piece. Kori Stout and Hailey Attinger each added 2 aces, while Lauren Fredel walked away with 9 assists and 7 digs.
