Winamac Volleyball traveled to Northfield for their third varsity tournament in three weeks. After only losing 25-23 to Northfield last Saturday at the North Miami Tomahawk Tournament, Winamac was confident coming into Saturday's first match against the Norsemen. While the Warriors were shorthanded on the day and working with a new lineup, Northfield was locked and loaded for their first game on their home court. Winamac walked away with a 25-12 and 25-11 match loss. Match two of the day was also a close game earlier this season for the Warriors - Lewis Cass. The Kings led most of the first match by a point or two, but Winamac stayed on their heels, forcing Cass to waste both time outs in the last 4 points of the first set. Set one ended with two long rallies and great play by both sides, 23-25 Kings. Set two was also filled with great plays, and lots of hustle, but 7 missed serves on Winamac's side led to a 25-17 loss. The best and final game of the day was against Eastern where the Warriors made some serving and substitution adjustments and was finally able to find the court on offense. Unfortunately, Eastern had the Warriors outgunned and Winamac fell 25-16, 25-12. Kaelyn O'Connor and Marissa Iverson led the Warrior's offense with 11 and 7 kills on the day. Brooke Rausch and Ally Campbell tacked on another 3 kills apiece. O'Connor and Campbell dished up some wicked serves on the day, both ending with 4 aces. Linzy Walters ended the day with 23 assists. The Warriors are on the road all week to kick off conference play Tuesday at Culver and Thursday at Knox.
